Ted G Albritton Senior passed from earthly life to his heavenly life on Saturday June 16, 2018 after a prolonged illness. Service will be held at Scott Funeral Home – 1421 E. Highway 6 in Alvin, Texas on Wednesday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in his hometown of Bridgeport, Texas on Thursday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in Paradise Cemetery in Paradise, Texas. He was born September 23, 1929 at Bridgeport Texas to parents Ben and Belle Albritton.

He attended high school at Bridgeport where he enjoyed playing football for the Bridgeport Bulls. As a young man he felt the call of God on his life and made plans to go into the ministry. After completing high school at Bridgeport, he attended Southwest Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie Texas, and was ordained as an Assemblies of God minister.

He began to preach wherever he could, including the First Assembly of God in Bridgeport, his home church. It was there he met the love of his life, Edna Geneva Thompson of Rusk Texas. They married on September 28, 1951 and began a life of ministry and service together.

Soon after marriage he accepted his first pastorate at San Augustine Texas. During the next 56 years he pastored nine churches, and during his ministry he was instrumental in leading many to Christ. He is remembered and loved by many in the churches he pastored.

He loved his family and worked hard to support them in difficult times, finding odd jobs and learning painting and wall texturing to supplement his pastoring when the offerings were at times less than $10 a week. He found many ways to enjoy life though and took his sons and their friends on many outdoor adventures – hunting quail in the West Texas brush, finding a “special fishing spot” where no fish could be found, hiking a back trail to a swimming hole, or just finding something fun to do – like tubing down a snowy hill in the mountains of New Mexico or driving a back road to enjoy the scenery. He loved to travel, see new sights and experience new places, a joy that lives on in his children and grandchildren today.

But most of all he loved the Lord and lived his life ministering the Word of God, a legacy that also lives on in his children and grandchildren that are all committed Christians. He is preceded in death by brother Billy Gene Albritton and sisters Addie Mae Warner, Doris Galloway, and Ima Lee Anderson. He is survived by wife Geneva, sons Ted Jr and wife Constance, Richard and wife Jana; Grandchildren Amanda and husband Colt; Jenny and husband Davey.

Annamarie, Kristen, and James; Great grandchildren Titus, Remington, Abigail, and Kira; Sister Betty Joy Van Hoose of Brownwood Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
