Obituary of George E. Hamby George E. Hamby, 81, Marion, was surrounded by his family when he passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Born in Peru on October 13, 1937, George was the son of the late Herman and Irene (Hierholzer) Hamby. George graduated from Bennett-St. Paul High School.

He worked as a millwright and was a union steward for 19 years before he owned and operated George’s Auto Parts from 1977 to 2006. In his retirement, he enjoyed restoring classic cars and going to car shows. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carrie; daughters, Tonie (Tom) Wood, Cecelia (Thad) Wright, and Robin Hickey; and sisters, Sue Hevner and Barbara Horner.

George also leaves behind his beloved 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the funeral home with Father Christopher Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. Online condolences may be made at www.
