Georgel Anderson Centerfield, Utah Georgel Anderson, 79, of Centerfield, Utah passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018 in Gunnison. He was born in Duchesne, Utah on February 3, 1939 to John Alfred and Edith Delilah Minchey Anderson. Georgel served in the US Air Force until he was burned in a mechanical accident.

He married Carol Darlene Olsen on November 4, 1966 in the Manti Temple. They made their home in Centerfield and were blessed with two children. Georgel trained under gifted knifesmith Gil Hibben while working at Ensign Knife Company.

When Ensign Knives moved out of state he started his own business, Anderson Custom Knives. He built a workshop from the ground up, and even made several of the machines he used to create beautiful knives. He and his knives were featured in Blade Magazine and were sent all over the world.

He never could turn anyone away, and would often trade a knife for a piece of deer antler he couldn’t use if it meant a young man could hunt with one of his knives. Georgel was a wonderful father and grandfather, and he and Carol were also foster parents. His family always came first, and was his proudest accomplishment.

He taught his children to work hard and to be honest. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a high priest. Georgel is survived by his wife Carol of Centerfield; son, Dale George (Kimberly) Anderson, West Valley; daughter, Shayla Darlene, Centerfield; and grandchildren: Laci, Kristyn, Megan and Mark; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Esther, Dorothy and Li Anderson, Lee (Becky) Olsen, Sondra (Weston) Jones, Venna (Dennis) Gardner, Debra (Norman) Ballow, Von Olsen, Jeanette (Mark) Christensen.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Julie Ann; sisters Clara Cheney and Bernice Givens; and brothers Worrell, Harold, Carl, and Jesse Anderson. Private family graveside service will be held in the Centerfield Cemetery on Monday, October 8, 2018 with military honors by the American Legion Post #105. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
