Georgena Covey Izzo January 28, 1942 – September 24, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Georgena Covey Izzo, 76, formerly of Rome, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at Eastern Star Home. She was born January 28, 1942 in Rome, NY the daughter of Harold F. and Evelyn M. Nash Quackenbush. She graduated from Pueblo High School in Tuscon, AZ in 1960.

On July 25, 1964 she married Richard W. Covey at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rome. He died December 1, 1997 after 33 years of marriage. On April 7, 2007 she married Frank A. Izzo, he died December 22, 2008.

She returned to college in 1986 attending MVCC part-time and received an Associate’s Degree in Office Tech with Medical Option in 1992. She was employed by many local businesses and was a Teacher Assistant for the Rome School District. In 1969, Georgena changed religions and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s witnesses and remained faithful until her death as a member of the South Rome Congregation.

She was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother. She is survived by three children, Brenda A. Deeley, Cheryl L. Simpson, and Richard A. Covey, a sister, Bonnie Taylor and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.

Burial was in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls, NY.
