Georgene’s Obituary Georgene Day Weber, 98, of Greensboro, North Carolina, formerly of Ironton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019. She was born January 12, 1921 the daughter of the late Walter Day and Mary Ethel Day in Pedro, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 45 years, Robert Joseph Weber, whom she married on December 15, 1948.

Georgene graduated from Ironton High School and Portsmouth School of Nursing where she received her Diploma as a Registered Nurse. She enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Registered Nurse in the European Theatre during WWII. She received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Meritorious Service Unit Plaque.

After discharge from the U.S. Army she worked for many years as a registered nurse at Lawrence County General Hospital in Ironton, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Betty Waller and Opal Swindler and brother Woodrow Day. She is survived by two daughters Barbara Weber and Lisa Kleinline (Bruce) of Greensboro, North Carolina and sons Robert Weber (Janet) of Stockton, New Jersey and David Weber (Diana) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

She is also survived by five grandchildren Elizabeth Weber (Carl Allsop), Megan George (Michael), Rachael Perrin (Anthony), Kyle Kleinline and Caroline Kinn (Stephen) and two great grandchildren McKenzie and Natalie Perrin. Graveside service will be conducted on Monday May 6, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery Ironton, Ohio. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, Ohio will be handling arrangements.
