Mrs. Georgia Ann Heape Williams, 87, of Walterboro entered her heavenly home on June 16, 2018. Born December 15, 1930, Georgia Ann was the daughter of the late George Alton Heape and Doris Eliza Bowers Heape. She graduated from Walterboro High School in 1947 where she excelled in both academics and athletics.

Georgia Ann was a member of the National Honor Society and numerous other clubs; was on the school’s newspaper staff; was the class historian; and played on the girls’ basketball team. She was named a Senior Superlative of the class of 1947 in three areas: most intelligent, most dependable, and most original. After graduating high school, Georgia Ann worked as a bookkeeper and cashier at Edens Food Store.

After her marriage to J.W. Williams, Sr., she became a full-time homemaker until her two children entered elementary school. She then continued her career as a bookkeeper, working part-time for Bailey’s Pharmacy and The Flower Shop and full-time with Dorothy H. Turner Accounting. She worked faithfully by her sister’s side at the accounting office for 46 years before retiring in 2010.

Georgia Ann previously attended Northside Christian Church, where she was a charter member and Sunday School teacher. More recently she attended Green Pond Baptist Church where her son serves as pastor. She had been a resident at Ashley Landing Assisted Living in North Charleston for the past fourteen months.

She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to Jesus Christ and her sacrificial and unconditional love for her family. Georgia Ann is survived by her son, James W. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Green Pond; two grandchildren: Jennifer R. Williams (Matt) of Islandton and James Austin Williams (Jessica) of Walterboro and three great-grandchildren: Matthew, Madelyn, and Charlotte. Also surviving is a nephew, George F. Heape, and a niece, Mickie T. Reynolds, both of Walterboro, and their families.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Dottie W. Nettles, her brother, George Edward Heape, and her sister, Dorothy H. Turner. A celebration of Georgia Ann’s life will be held at 2 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon, June 19, 2018, at Green Pond Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

The burial will be held privately in Glendale Memorial Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Ashley Landing Assisted Living, the nurses on the fifth floor of the Neuro-Spine unit at St. Francis Hospital and the staff of Roper Hospice for their loving and attentive care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Green Pond Baptist Church, P.O. Box 265, Green Pond, SC 29446.
