Georgia M. Gonzales passed away peacefully Sunday, June 17, 2018 surrounded by her children, extended family and a vast network of friends. Georgia was born to Cora Autobee Mehan and Willie Mehan, July 10, 1938 in Pueblo, Colorado. In the early 1940’s Cora moved Georgia, her two siblings Bob and Connie, and her new husband Florian (Nick) Mathe to Bingham Canyon, Utah.

Georgia grew up in Bingham Canyon with a myriad of friends from all over the world. Her experiences there opened her heart to all those to whom she would encounter throughout her entire life. After knowing him for most of her life, she married Raul (Lolly) Gonzales on September 13, 1956.

She and Lolly remained married until his death in 2007. Together they raised five children, George (Brenda) Gonzales, Liz (Louie) Muniz, Patricia (Darrell) Christensen (both deceased), Joe Gonzales and James Gonzales. Georgia worked for many years for Deseret Medical and Ballard Medical.

After her retirement, she and Lolly loved to travel the western United States and the west coast of Canada alone and with friends fishing, exploring and shopping all the thrift stores and yard sales they came across. After losing Lolly 11 years ago, she found great joy and purpose in her participation in social gatherings and political activities, and her family at Blessed Sacrament Parish. Georgia was a person of great openness and love for all she met.

Her family of informally adopted children and expansive network of friends is too vast to be detailed here, but you know who you are, and you know that you carry her love with you. Georgia was preceded in death by her mother, father, both siblings, her husband and daughter Patricia, and is survived by four children, nine grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren, and her large family of adoptive friends and children. Services will be held this weekend.

Viewing and Catholic Rosary will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale, Utah. Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 9757 South 1700 East, Sandy, Utah. Burial will follow at Redwood Memorial Garden, 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
