Obituary for Gerald A. “Jerry” Ragas Gerald A. “Jerry” Ragas, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the age of 84. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doreen Lilian B. Ragas; his parents, George Bertrand Ragas Sr. and Pearl Turlich Ragas; siblings, George Bertrand Ragas Jr., Lillian Aupied Ordoyne, Audrey Alesich, Betty Carpenter, Mary Whiteley, Leon “Bunny” Ragas, and Ronald Ragas. He is the devoted and loving father of Richard Ragas (Ronda), Geraldine Bowers (Pat), Gwendolyn Rolen (Scott), and Albert Ragas (April).
He is the devoted grandfather of Leah B. Morrill Ledet (Tim), Brecklyn B. Sanzin (Jeremy), P.J. Bowers (Jessica), Anthony Bowers (Renee), Doreen Adrianna Rolen, and Gavin Rolen. He is the loving great grandfather of Myra Ledet, Kaleb Sanzin, Lilian Sanzin, Konner Sanzin, Azlyn Mason, and Hunter Bowers. He is the loving brother of Karen Ragas Greene.
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He is a US Air Force Veteran serving in the 420th Air Refueling Squadron and proud life-time member of the American Legion Post 193. He was also a member of the VFW Post 6402 and the 40th and 8th.
He was also a Free Mason and a member of TAC Tankers. He was retired from Gulf Oil Company and Chevron Oil Company. A proud Louisiana Citrus Grower, Jerry was an avid Alligator Hunter.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A very special thank you to his devoted caregiver Suzette. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA.
Visitation will continue on Friday, June 1, 2018 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM all at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28683 LA-23, Port Sulphur , LA.
