Obituary for Russel F. Bernard Russel F. Bernard passed away peacefully on May 17, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband of the late Providence Zanca Bernard and Mary Bernice Bernard. Father of Penny Buras (Kenneth Buras) and Russel “Rusty” Bernard (Rosanne Simons).

Grandfather of Kelsi Schmitz (Gerard Schmitz), Jodi Bernard (James Wagar) and Alex Buras. Great-grandfather of Sophia Bernard, Eliza Schmitz and William Schmitz. Brother of the late Hewitt “Ben” Bernard Jr. Son of the late Eve Gautreaux and Hewitt Bernard.

Also survived by his step-daughter, Sherry Adam (Gene); step-granddaughter, Shantelle Clement (Chris); step-greatgrandchildren, Peyton and Addie Clement along with other loving relatives and friends. Russel served his country in the Louisiana National Guard and later worked as an electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local Union No.

130. He was a longtime member of the New Orleans Powerboat Association and was a member of the City Park Tennis Club. Russel was a devout parishioner of St. Rosalie Catholic Church and could be found every morning at Mass.

He will be sadly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Rosalie Catholic Church, 601 2nd Avenue, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 9am to 11am, followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment Lakelawn Park Cemetery.
