Obituary for Mary Eva Collins (nee Marie) Mary Eva Collins (nee Marie) died in her home with her family around her on May 12th, 2018 in Terrytown, LA at the age of 88. The beloved wife of John Joseph Collins Jr. and mother of John Joseph III, Barton Scott, Becky Lou and Betsy Ann, she is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica, Courtney, Randall, Brittany and Shannon, and dearly loved by her great-grandchildren Serenity and Caden. Miss Mary, as she was known to her dearest friends was born on February 19th, 1930 in Theriot, LA to the late Alice and Stelley Billiot.

Mary was married on October 5th, 1952 to John Jr. at St. Rita’s church and upon her death they were married for 65 years. She resided in Terrytown for more than 50 years and was a beloved housewife, a caring neighbor, and a loving babysitter in her home to generations of children. She loved, and was loved for her amazing cooking, and was seen by many sitting on her front porch drinking coffee or tending her garden and sharing stories with family and friends who were always welcome.

She is sister to Mabel Freeman, the late Eveline Brown, Notesia Billiot, Emily Jones, Dianne Ockman, Irene Pratt, Ollie Billiot, Stelley Billiot, Jr. and Danny Billiot and the late Houston Billiot. A memorial visitation will take place on Monday May 21st from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. A chapel prayer service will take place at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Miss Mary’s life.
