McDONALD – Gerald G. “Jerry” Kachmer, 76, passed away early Friday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2018, at Briarfield at Ashley Circle in Austintown. Jerry was born July 14, 1942, in Youngstown, a son of the late George and Margaret Toporcer Kachmer, and he lived his life in this area.

Jerry was a graduate of Chaney High School and worked for U.S. Steel and for TAMCO. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 235 in Girard.

Mr. Kachmer enjoyed golfing, working crossword puzzles, and he liked playing bingo and visiting casinos. His wife of 42 years, Carol L. Plant Kachmer, whom he married Oct. 2, 1969, passed away March 29, 2012.

Jerry leaves his brother, Jim (Anna Marie) Kachmer of Youngstown; two nieces, Jennifer (Ron) Bennett and Chrissy DiCicco; and a nephew, Jimmy DiCicco. Besides his wife and parents, a sister, Diane DiCicco, is deceased. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

There are no calling hours. Arrangements were entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
