Gerald’s Obituary Gerald T. Vann, Sr., age 81, of Hebron, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019. He was born on September 30, 1937 in Gillham, Arkansas to the late Thomas and Bessie Vann. On August 23, 1958, he married Bonnie MacDonald.

Gerald retired from US Steel in 2000 after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kouts. In his free-time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially loved working on cars.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Vann; sons, Christopher Vann, Gerald (Lalonnie) Vann, Jr.; daughters, Sharon Rayner, Deborah (Tim) Stanfill; grandchildren, Jason Rayner, Michelle Bryner, Brandy Davis, Ashley White, Courtney Stanfill, Jessica Stanfill, Jordan Vann and Bryce Vann; 13 great grandchildren. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Bessie Vann; brothers, Aubrey, Raymond, Billie and Bobbie Vann; sisters, Elaine Flowers and Esta Hughes; granddaughter, Heather Rayner. Memorial contributions in Gerald’s name may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 50 East 91st Street Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.

A funeral service for Gerald will take place Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph Street, Winfield/ Crown Point, IN 46307 with Rev. Robert W. Hauter officiating. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart.
