Obituary for Gerard F. Schaeffner Gerard F. Schaeffner, 93, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Care One at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook. Born and raised in the Middle Village section of Queens, NY, Mr. Schaeffner moved to Middle in 1958 and in 2001 relocated to Bridgewater. He was an Engineer for Shell Oil Company and retired after 25 years of service.
He then purchased and operated H & M Engineering for several years prior to establishing the former G.F. Schaeffner Contractors of Middle along with his late son Gerard. A former member of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church in Middle as well as Blessed Sacrament on Bridgewater, Mr. Schaefnner was an avid golfer who excelled at the sport.
He served as a board member of the Rutgers Golf Association and enjoyed golfing with his family and taking annual golf trips with his friends. In addition to his son Gerard, Mr. Schaeffner is also predeceased by his wife Marie; brothers, William and Robert Schaeffner and companion Ida Stella and is survived by his daughter Marilyn Schaeffner and son in law Bob Failla of Branchburg; daughter in-law, Roberta Schaeffner of Piscataway; grandchildren, Jared Schaeffner, Jennifer Reilly and Robert Gray as well as four great grandchildren, Mason and Ryan Reilly and Abigail and Owen Gray. The funeral mass will be on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Mt.
