OBITUARY Gertrude “Gertie” Fink Jones May 8, 1927 – January 18, 2019 Gertrude “Gertie” Fink Jones, 91, died at home on January 18, 2019 after a losing battle with cancer. Before moving to Churubusco to be closer to her children, Gertie lived in her hometown of Fort Wayne. Gertie married Donald jones in 1947, they had four daughters during that marriage.

Gertie was a member of Northside missionary church, a church her family helped to build, since the age of three. Gertie worked at Sherman Whites, the Knitting Mill, Magnavox and General Electric. She was an avid league bowler, bowling at Westwood Lanes, American legion 47 and the G.E. Bowling Alley, and a fierce euchre and scrabble player.

Until her last illness she loved reading inspirational novels, mystery movies, and growing potted flowers and plants on her front porch. She also enjoyed traveling in her younger years. She will be sorely missed and forever loved by her children, Donna Jones, Deni (Dewey) Fredrick, Glenda Newman and Georgia (Michael) Stahlhut, all of Churubusco; her grandchildren, Jeff (Danielle) Newman, Kelli Jones, Sarah (Brian) Tigner, Jason (Becky) Stahlhut, and Michaela Ulle; as well as her great-grandchildren, Robert, Andrew, Nathan, Madison, Makenzi, Isabelle, Carson, Harper, Emma and Lily; also two angels still to be born, Raymond and Rhiannon; sister-in-law, Clara “Tootie” Fink; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Donald; a baby son; parents, Charles and Thelma Fink; five brothers, Charles, Glen “Bud”, Stanley, William “Bill”, and Raymond Fink; sister, Alice Jones; son-in-law, Al “Sonny” Newman; and the sister of her heart, Catherine McCray. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Northside Missionary Church 700 Lillian Ave. , Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave. , Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Burial will take place in Covington Memorial Gardens.
