Gertrude “Jane” Kaucher, age 93, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL. Jane was born on January 26, 1926 in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Earl Voss Sr. and Ruby (Riggs) Voss. On November 25, 1948, Jane Voss married Frederick R. Kaucher Jr., the love of her life in St. Louis, MO.

Jane retired from the records department of the 5th Army in St. Louis, MO, after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Granite City, IL. Jane enjoyed tracing down family history.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by her two sisters, Effie Lou Humphreys and Barbara Schwertmann; and by three brothers, Bethel “Bud” Voss, Earl Voss Jr., and Larry Voss.

She is survived by her loving son, Fred Kaucher of St. Charles, MO; dear siblings, Bill Voss of Granite City, IL and Donna (Larry) McIlvoy of Granite City, IL; sister-in-law, Phyllis Voss of Granite City, IL; brother-in-law, Frank Schwertmann of Granite City, IL; proud grandmother to Crystal Ann Kaucher of Hazelwood, MO and Cheryl Lynn (Jared) Hughes of Warrenton, MO; proud great-grandmother to Jonathon Kaucher, RJ Caldwell, Zachary Hughes, Emily Hughes and Matthew Hughes; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Bill Hale officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL. Memorial donations may be given to Vitas Hospice. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
