Services for Gilbert D. Sayre, Jr., 86, of Frankfort, will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Gary Hager will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
Gilbert died Saturday afternoon at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. A native of Tyrone, he spent many years as a labor worker, performing various construction, plumbing and electrical jobs. He also worked for the Kentucky State Government for a number of years.
Gilbert attended Westview Baptist Church in Frankfort, was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and had spent some time in the past driving the church bus for Capital Church of the Nazarene. He was a hard worker and would do whatever it took to provide for his family. His pets were also very special to him through the years.
He loved fishing, wood working, cooking, cleaning (especially vacuuming), gardening, and yardwork. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sayre, of Frankfort; sons, Mark Sayre, Steve Sayre, and David (Lottie) Sayre, all of Frankfort; daughter, Sharon (Billy) Knox, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Michael Sayre, Christine Sayre, Daniel Snow, Sean Snow, Derek Snow, David P. Sayre, Samantha Harris, Jessica Wilson and Emily Wilson; and ten great-grandchildren. You mare share memories and leave condolences at www.
