Obituary for Mr. Glynn Mathis Mr. Glynn Mathis age 87, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Graveside services will be held at 4:15 pm Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Oak Grove cemetery. Rev.

John Walker will officiate. Glynn Mathis was born in Americus, GA, October 30, 1930, the youngest of four children of Ed and Lois Mathis. He was preceded in death by his sisters Irene M. Wellons, Lucille M. Monkus and a brother James E. Mathis.

He graduated from Americus High school in 1948. He attended Georgia Southwestern College. Glynn was a Korean War Veteran.

He served in the U.S. Air Force. After completing his tour of duty in the Air Force, he attended Georgia Southwestern University, Vanderbilt University and University of Georgia. He was inducted into the GSW Athletics Hall of Fame and has served on the Board of Directors for the GA Southwestern University’s Alumni Association.

Glynn had a career in public education for 33 years as a teacher, coach and principal. He was also a charter member of the Marietta Golden Kiwanis Club. To sign the on-line guest book and share your condolences with the family visit www.
