Grace Edwards Perih passed away peacefully on May 17 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her first husband of 45 years, James Ira Edwards, eldest son David Edwards, second husband, Walter Perih, siblings Bob and Dewitt Bouton and Eleanor Gumaer, and her four-legged “child” Ryan. She is survived by 8 children: Christine and Bob Cochran, Pat Edwards, James and Jean Edwards, Michelle and David Mercier, Doug and Theresa Edwards, Dennis Edwards and Marywren Thomas, Jason Edwards and Donna White, Kathi and Blaise Ryan; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.

She was a “snowbird” wintering in Haines City, Florida, for many years. We thank her friends in Florida, Donna and Dave, Dottie, Karen, Gene, Bea, Rita and Barry, for all they did throughout the years. She was an avid camper and member of the Happy Campers Club; enjoyed completing puzzles and listening to Gospel, Elvis, and the Oakridge Boys; and loved her yearly visit to the Greene Field Days, especially the Elvis impersonator.

She looked forward to her weekly dinner-date night with her “favorite daughter” Kathi and could never pass up ordering a new outfit from Blair or the latest small appliance from QVC. She was a strong, independent woman and wonderful mother whose passion for life was an inspiration. Her commitment to family left us each with cherished memories, and we were blessed to have her as part of our lives for all these years.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango Street, Binghamton. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Apalachin, NY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

If Roses Grow in Heaven If roses grow in Heaven Lord Please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, Place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while.

Because remembering her is easy, I do it everyday, But there is an ache within my heart That will never go away.
