The obituary for Gracia High is posted to our website as a courtesy to her family who are residents of Anson County. Matthews – Gracia J. High, 41, of Matthews, NC, was born on the 16th of June, 1977 at the Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota to George and Julia High. She began school in Larimore, ND and completed all courses for graduation in 1995.

She was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 16. Although, a disease that causes much disability, she persevered. Gracia graduated from Mayville State University in 2000 and continued her education with a Masters Degree in Special Education in 2004 from the University of North Dakota.

She worked at several positions in Grand Forks and later in Minnesota coaching young kids and adults to become self-sufficient. Gracia loved her work and was very dedicated to her students. She moved to North Carolina in June of 2015 and continued to tutor young kids at Queens Grant in Mint Hill, NC until her death.

She was a member of Saron Missionary Baptist Church in Polkton, NC. On the 1st of May 2019 at 3:00 PM, Gracia gained her wings and went to be with the Lord. She touched the lives of many people and always with a smile.

Gracia leaves to cherish her memories by her mother, Julia, and father, and stepmother: George and Ardis; her sister, Kendra; nieces: Olivia and Jillian and her four-legged kids, Hudson and Toby. Gracia also leaves a host of friends that she called family. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, a maternal great grandmother and an uncle.

The High family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 6:30, Monday, the 6th of May 2019 in the Historic Morehead Street Chapel of Ellington Funeral Services. A service will begin at 6:30 PM. The family will also greet friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May the 7th 2019 at Saron Missionary Baptist Church, 2285 Winfield Road, Polkton, NC 28135.

A Home Going Celebration will be held at 2:00 PM Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, 121 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801, Lupus Foundation of America, 4530 Park Road #302, Charlotte, NC 28209 or the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Ste 100, Charlotte, NC 28207. Notes of encouragement or condolences may be left for the family by leaving a comment below.
