Graydon V. “Grady” Conrad, age 88, Saybrook Twp. , died Thursday afternoon at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following complications from a fall four months ago. He was born February 14, 1930 in Pierpont Twp.

, the son of Darius & Emma (Wolfe) Conrad and had been an Ashtabula County resident all of his life. Mr. Conrad was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving as a Communications Operator during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Carol J. Baker on February 20, 1954 at the Geneva Methodist Church.

Mr. Conrad retired from True Temper Corp. in 1982 and was also employed with Fuller Brush and Girard Nurseries during his working tenure. After his retirement he worked at the Miscellaneous Barn in Painesville.

The Conrad’s attended Park St. Christian Church for many years. His pastimes included roller skating, doing yard work and gardening and most of all being with his family. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Carol; four children, Debbie (Mike) Baruffa of Kent, Jim (Debbie) Conrad of Rock Creek, Jeff (Jennifer Nichols) Conrad of Jefferson & Ken (Trish) Conrad of Geneva; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gordon Conrad of Daytona Beach, FL and Dan (Jean) Conrad of Ashtabula and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Lyrik Conrad; a sister, Meribah Thompson and four brothers, Stan, Wilmer, Milan and Robert Conrad. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva with the Rev. Dennie Land of the Champion Church of God officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens where American Legion Post #743 will render military honors. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5-7 P. M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave.
