Obituary for Gregory Thomas Lynd Gregory (Greg) Thomas Lynd, 62, of Huntington, West Virginia passed away May 19, 2018 unexpectedly. Greg was born January 12, 1956 in Huntington West Virginia to William (Bill) Lynd & Peggy O’mara Lynd. He was the second oldest of five children raised in South Point, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents William (Bill) and Peggy Lynd, brother Earl Lynd and grandson David Grace Carver. Gregory is survived by his four children, oldest to youngest, son Gregory Thomas Lynd II and wife Stacey Spaulding Lynd of Leicester, NC, daughter, Toby Noel Lynd Carver and husband David Carver of Leicester, NC, daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Lynd Austin and husband Jody Austin of Candler, NC, William Kody Lynd of Asheville, NC; nine grandchildren, Jordan Lynd, Carson Lynd, Isaiah Carver, Elijah Carver, Mikayla Carter, Jacob Carter, Clayton Austin, Tucker Austin, Lilly Austin; one great granddaughter, Emberlyn Lynd; three sisters, Tammy Lynd Varney and husband Tom Varney of Huntington, WV, Jackie Lynd Rikard and husband Mark Rikard of Hickory, NC, Teresa Lynd Runyon and husband Carlos Runyon of Southpoint, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, friends and his former wife and mother of his children Anita Gail Ingle Lynd; also his very special friends,Tom and Amanda Vellekoop and girls, Garrett Harsey and Kristen Harsey that he loved and thought of as his own. In 1973, at the young age of 17 Greg proudly joined the United States Air Force and with his bride Anita Gail Ingle they traveled the world and built a family.

Greg loved his country and passionately served for nearly 20 years. He had many adventures & experiences throughout his life that shaped him in to the man he was. He loved his family and expressed how proud he was of them every chance he had.

He freely gave compliments, jokes and loved to tell stories. He was known for his great stories, his love of singing and his laugh. He truly enjoyed the simple things in life.

Greg was the most generous, kind hearted man who would literally give you the shirt off his back. He was an avid pool player. He wasn’t afraid to speak his mind and had no problem striking up a conversation with anyone.

His sixty-two years of life taught him many things. He openly professed that God had blessed him beyond his wildest dreams and expressed how blessed he was to have his family, children, grandchildren and friends. He will be missed dearly by his loved ones.

There will be a graveside memorial service held 1pm at Bowen Ridge Cemetery on Tuesday May 22, 2018. The VFW Post #93 of Kenova, WV will perform graveside rites. Schneider-Hall Funeral Home in Chesapeake, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
