Guy J. DiMaio, age 79, of Johnstown passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 17, 1939 in Gloversville, a son of the late Matteo and Mary Lorentano DiMaio. Guy attended Gloversville schools and was employed for many years as a Leather Worker.

He worked in Carpentry and assisted in the Gilboa Dam construction project. Mr. DiMaio later worked as the Greens Keeper at Hales Mills Golf Course. Guy was a longtime member of Hales Mills C.C. and Club Giada.

Guy loved picking wild mushrooms and cooking for his family and friends. He was a passionate golfer. Mr. DiMaio is survived by his wife Roberta “Tiny” Marshall DiMaio who he married on December 28, 1957; four daughters Merilynda Olmstead (Dominic Anadio), Darcy DiMaio, Lori Monroe (Steven) and Toni Rooney; six siblings Dolores Leggerio, Ruth Intellisano, Joseph DiMaio (Pam), Herman DiMaio (Jeannie), Yolanda Semione (Joe) and Victor DiMaio (Cathy); six grandchildren Daniel Rooney (Ashley), Elliot Rooney (Mike), Howard Olmstead (Niki), Joseph Olmstead, Bradley Sawyer (Allison) and Juliana Sawyer; two great grandchildren Giada Olmstead and Gavin Thompson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Guy is predeceased by three siblings Mario DiMaio, Amelia Fuller and Margaret Leonardi. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Main Street, Johnstown.
