Gwen “Sissy” Veitenheimer April 01, 1944 – March 24, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Gwen “Sissy” Veitenheimer, age 74 of Wayne, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the Lexington Nursing Home. Gwendolyn Rose Wallace was born April 1, 1944 in Rosedale, OK, the youngest of 6 children born to Bill and Ramona Wallace. She was raised in Rosedale where she began school.

Gwen met a young man named Sammy Donald Veitenheimer. They fell madly in love and on August 18, 1961, Gwen and Sammy were married in Newcastle. She later graduated from Wayne High School with the Class of 1962.

Gwen and Sammy first made their home in Rosedale where together they raised 4 children; son, Bill and daughters, Ramona, Dawn and Samantha. They later settled in Wayne in 1983. Gwen’s greatest love was being a mother and grandmother.

She coached little league sports and volunteered for all sorts of activities, just to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Gwen had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel special and loved. When Gwen’s health began to fail, she remained positive and faced each day with a smile.

She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Bill and Ramona Wallace; Brother, Billy Harris Wallace and Son-in-law, Clyde Gilman. Gwen is survived by: Her loving husband, Sam Veitenheimer of the home; Her children, Ramona Roberts and husband John of Tulsa, Dawn Thrash and husband Robbie of Purcell, Samantha Veitenheimer of Norman and Bill Veitenheimer of Dallas, TX, Grandchildren, Jazmine Dale and husband Caleb, Noah & Kyle Roberts of Tulsa, Casey & Sam Gilman and Kaleigh Rose Thrash of Purcell and Mason Veitenheimer of Norman; 4 brothers, Bob Wallace, Don Wallace, Kent Wallace and Larry Wallace; Several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery.
