Gwendolyn Easley Smith was born October 4, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas. She grew up in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1956 as Valedictorian.

Gwendolyn accepted Christ at an early age attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was later baptized at First Sixth Street Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas. She was actively involved in the church choir, serving on the Deaconess Board, teaching Sunday School, along with playing the piano for the church Sunday School. Gwendolyn was a faithful servant and truly loved the Lord.

She was employed by Port Arthur Housing Authority (Carver Terrance), where she retired after over 20 years of service. At the age of 72, Gwendolyn moved to Arlington, Texas to be near her daughter. While in Arlington, she acquired many friends and those around her loved her sense of humor, as she was never lost for words.

Gwendolyn was very considerate and compassionate to others. She was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother and friend to many. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her mother and father, the late Rayfield Smith (husband), the late James Ray Smith (son).

She leaves to cherish loving memories Vickie McIntyre her daughter (of Arlington, TX) and Dezra Dautrive her son (of Wakefield, England), grandchildren Alexandra Clay, Desiree Dautrive, Dezra Dautrive Jr. and Orion Dautrive. She also leaves to mourn special cousin Walter Criner (of Houston, TX). There will be a memorial graveside service held at 10 am, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
