Virgie Mae Linden December 25, 1925 – November 27, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Virgie Mae Linden was born December 25, 1925 in Opelousas, Louisiana and went on to be with the Lord November 27, 2018. Virgie grew up in the segregated South and was only allowed to attend school through the 8th grade. However, determined to advance in her education, she went on to earn her high school diploma through the Port Arthur ISD Adult Education Program May 28,1975.

Virgie accepted Christ and joined Zion Travellers Baptist Church of Iowa, Louisiana. She was baptized at an early age in the Prien Lake. She was actively involved in the church throughout her life as a Sunday and Vacation Bible School teacher, usher, announcement clerk, and did mission work through the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).

Virgie was known for taking action and helping others in the community. Because of her lifelong dedication to service with several organizations, she received the President’s Award for Service & Civic Participation. However, her greatest accomplishment was living a life of worship as a devout Christian and leading her children and a myriad of others into a relationship with Christ.

Virgie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Isaac; sons, Alvin and Patrick; and niece, Lillie Marie. Those who are left to remember her are her sons and their respective spouses; Calvin (Lutricia) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ronnie, Lonnie (Angella), Reginald, Desrel (Jackie) of Port Arthur, Texas; her daughter, Iris, of Houston, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and countless others who will remember her fondly as family, friend, and servant of the Lord.
