Hal J. Shafer, 89, of Waterville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Heatherdowns Convalescent Center. He was born May 7, 1929 in Toronto, Canada to Hal and Kathryn (Tolford) Shafer. He married Rosalie McIntyre in 1950 and together they raised 2 daughters.

Hal retired from Owens-Illinois as a project engineer and later worked at Glasstech. He received his engineering degree from the University of Toledo. Hal was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army, a 33rd Degree Mason, and past Commander of the Toledo Power Squadron.

He and his wife were long members of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Maumee, OH. Hal is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie; daughters, Dr. Kathryn Shafer of Jupiter, Fl and Terri Shafer of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Alexa and Rachel Villegas. Visitation will be at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania, OH on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 10:00 until 10:30am.

Interment will be private at Toledo Memorial Park immediately following. Those wishing to offer memorials are asked to consider Pathways at Browning Masonic Community, 8883 Browning Dr., Waterville, OH 43566 or Ohio Living Hospice, 1730 South Reynolds Rd. , Toledo, OH 43614.
