Harlan “Fuzz” Kaup died on May 17, 2019. Dad was 79 years old. Born in Alma, Nebraska, he graduated from Tacoma’s Lincoln High School.

He was a long-time resident of both Tacoma and Spanaway. Harlan, known by his coworkers as “Fuzz”, spent most of his life working for, and eventually retiring from, the US Postal Service. Dad’s life was filled with the love of his wife Laurel, with whom he spent 50 years, and that of his children John, Patrick, Robert, Guy, and Frances.

His true passion in life was the love of his 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who each loved him dearly. Harlan was more than just our father or grandfather; he was also our closest friend. Each of us, including our mother- his wife Laurel, felt close to him because he was always open and honest with each of us.

He always made us feel that we could be the same with him.
