Obituary for Mr. Harold Bernard Sullivan age 92, of Starke Harold Bernard Sullivan, age 92 of Starke, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in Starke, Florida. He was born in Morriston, Florida on January 18, 1926. He was the youngest and last surviving child of John and Rachel Sullivan of Branford, Florida.

He served in the United States Army during WWII and Korean War. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in action at the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. After being wounded in the war, he was stationed in Japan, where he was assigned chauffeuring the officers around the base.

From this a clean and spotless vehicle was instilled in him forever. Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Pipefitters and Welders Union, Chapter 234 for over 60 years. During those years he worked in many states, and power plants, from Florida to the Alaska pipeline.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 27, Fairfax, South Carolina since 1954. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Starke, Florida. He was on kidney dialysis for many years but was a very active person, walking each day and enjoying life.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann Sullivan Johnson (Steven) of Gainesville; sons, Harold Michael Sullivan (Linda) of Starke, Dennis Charles Sullivan (Nanette) of Gainesville; step-daughter, Bobbi Walker of Inverness; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation for the love, support and assistance from, Ethan Nugent, who he loved like a son and all his nieces in Starke that showered their love for him daily. And Billy Pogue, of Fernandina Beach who he loved like a brother.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Starke on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. A visitation will precede the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park. Services will be officiated by Brother Delton Kilpatrick Arrangements are by Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home of Starke 904-964-6200.
