Obituary for Harold Copley Harold Bridgebane (“H.B.”) Copley of Penland passed away peacefully at his home on October 8, 2018. He was born in 1931 to Flossie Willis and Sherman Copley. Although H.B. was born in Kentucky and graduated from the University of Kentucky, he lived most of his life in Penland.

As a young man, he taught an enameling class at the Penland School of Crafts. He was in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years in independent sales and as a real estate broker.

After retiring, he worked at Wal Mart. He loved his home and took great pride working in his yard and enjoying the beautiful mountain on which he lived. He was a devoted University of Kentucky Wildcat fan and was enjoying their 5-0 start.

He also enjoyed Nascar, especially attending the Bristol Night Race with his friends. H.B. is survived by his three children, Jan Copley Wilkerson of Millwood, Virginia, Sherma Copley Barnwell (fiancé Rodney Goodwill) of Clemmons and Hal Copley of Edenton as well as grandsons Grayson Barnwell of Raleigh and Elliott Copley Wilkerson of Millwood, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Penland School of Crafts in his honor.

After cremation a private spreading of his remains and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Words of comfort may be e-mailed to the family by going to our website; www. webbfh.com.
