OBITUARY Harold “Dick” Deris Cecil November 2, 1934 – November 16, 2018 Harold “Dick” Cecil, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. Dick was born on November 2, 1934 in Davidson County, North Carolina to the late Clarence M. (Jack) and Lillian Crisco Cecil. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers: William Clarence (Bill) Cecil, Joseph Donald Cecil, Roger Floyd Cecil, sisters: Rebecca Jean Cecil and Nancy Joann Cecil Ensley, grandson: Joshua Dwight Starnes, and granddaughter: Hannah Elizabeth Starnes.

Dick was a resident of High Point and Thomasville most of his life and graduated from Hasty High School in 1953, after graduation he served in the United States Army in Korea. Following his service, he was owner/operator of the Alamo Barber Shop in High Point. Later he was in the furniture industry for many years as owner/operator of Furniture Buyers Center, Furniture Gallery, and HDC Upholstery in Thomasville.

After retirement, he spent time in Real Estate Development. He moved to Statesville in 2009. Dick is survived by his daughters: Startlett Dianne Cecil Cherry of Lexington, Terri Darlee Cecil Starnes-Bryant (Steve) of High Point, Regina Kay (Ginger) Cecil Dowdle (Steve) of Statesville, grandchildren: Logan Fritts (Logan), Tiffany Fritts, Stephanie Bryant, Amy Peak (Randy), April Martz (Jonathan), Steven Dowdle Jr. (Natasha), Crystal Dowdle Mayes (Jimmy), Jeremiah and Aaron Collins.

Dick is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, his brother: Kenneth Gale Cecil of Wilmington, sisters: Judy Cecil Nicks (Lynn) of High Point, and Kathy Cecil Copple (Ron) of Denton, sisters-in-law: Dot Sink Cecil of High Point and Linda Hopkins Cecil of Frankford, KY and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 on Monday, November 19, at Davis Funeral Home, 976 Phillips Avenue, High Point, NC 27262. The family will receive family and friends at 1:00 prior to the service.

Interment will follow the service at Spring Hill United Methodist Church cemetery at 240 Spring Hill Church Road, High Point, NC 27262, just off West Lexington Avenue Extension, High Point.
