Harold Platte, age 75, of Radcliffe, IA, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Harold Eugene Platte was born on October 28, 1943 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was one of six children born to Erwin and Clara (Schneider) Platte.

He grew up on a farm three miles east of Tripoli, Iowa. He attended country school near his farm and went on to high school in Sumner where he graduated with the Class of 1961. After high school, he farmed near… Read More » Tripoli until 1983.

He began working for Denver School District where he worked until 1997. Harold then moved to Radcliffe and worked with his nephew. He enjoyed clogging and was a member of the Corn Flake Cloggers.

He delivered the Des Moines Register for nearly 40 years. He loved high school athletics, following his nephews and great nephews. Harold passed away following a short illness on November 22, 2018 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Those thankful for having shared his life include his siblings Henry Platte of Hubbard Care Center, Maurine (Ken) Wentz-Walters of Prairie Du Chein, Wisconsin and Herb (Cindy) Platte of New Hampton, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Harlan and Howard. He will be missed.
