Dempsey, 77, of Chillicothe, passed away 1:45 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born June 6, 1941, in Ross County to the late Richard K. and Clara L. Ray Dempsey. On June 19, 1970, he married the former Nancy Groves who survives.

Also surviving are children, Harold R. (Lisa) Dempsey II, of Chillicothe, Shawn M. (Kim) Dempsey, of Dublin and Chad E. (Jeanette) Dempsey, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Destiny, Matthew, and Joshua Dempsey and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Dempsey and a sister, Janice Blazer. Harold retired from the Chillicothe City Schools in 2004 as a bus mechanic after 30 years of service.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5-7 p.m. on Friday.
