HAROLD RAE “HAL” KNOWLES JR. , 74, died on February 1, 2019 in Memphis. He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on August 1, 1944.

Hal was a professor of speech and theater at various universities, including the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) and the University of Oklahoma (Norman). Hal loved animals, watching NASCAR, and his family. Hal, a loving father, son, and brother, is survived by his son, Brad (Kristen Geyer) Knowles of Austin, TX; brother, Kenneth Lee (Pam) Knowles of Murfreesboro; nephew, Christopher Knowles of Murfreesboro; sister, Patty (Michael) Moore of Winterset, IA; niece, Austin Moore of Des Moines, IA; aunt, Thelma Masey of McMinnville; niece, Laura Wilson and family; nephew, Tony (Christy) Wilson and family; nephew, Roger Wilson and family; and Masey family cousins.
