Harold Robert “Sam” Dalious passed away on Wednesday October 31, 2018 while living at Providence Place in Drums, PA. He was born August 2, 1930 in Main Township, Columbia County. He was the son of the late Samuel and Effie (Hauntzelman) Dalious.

Harold graduated from Mifflinville School. He worked as a carpenter from Lutz Constructing in Orangeville, PA from 1948 until 1951. He proudly served his country in Korea from 1951 until 1953 in the Army 38th Ordnance Division.

After Korea, he worked at TRW in Danville almost 40 years, from 1953 until 1992. He was a member at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catawissa for over 60 years. He is also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Berwick.

He was a member of Lodge 349 in Elysburg, PA, and the American Legion in Catawissa for over 60 years. He was a member of Toastmaster International. Sam also served on the school board at Southern Columbia School District from 1963 until 1972.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and hiking Catawissa Mountain. He also loved woodworking and especially making wooden canes. One of his favorite hobbies was Ham Radio.

He proudly belonged to a group of fellow Ham Radio operators that called themselves “The Old Buzzards”. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Freda Kline Dalious in 2013. He was also preceded in death by his brother Paul Thomas Dalious in 2016.

Survivors include a son, Keith Dalious and his wife Sandra from Hellertown, PA, two granddaughters; Jenna Torres from Philadelphia, PA, and Susan Luchetta and husband Erik from Houston, Texas. As well as great-granddaughter Olivia Pearl Luchetta from Houston, Texas. Services will be Saturday November 3, 2018 at 11:15 am at Christ United Lutheran Church, 116 Church St, Catawissa with his pastor’s, Pastor Melody Sell and Rev.

Chad Hebrinks officiating. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery with Military Honors. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the church.

Masonic services will be held at the church at 11:00 am. Family and friends may send online condolences to allenrhornefuneralhome.com. The Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa is handling arrangements.
