Harriet J. Bazia February 11, 1936 – May 4, 2019 Harriet J. Bazia, 83, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 8:37 am in her home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, May 10, 2019 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. William F. O’Toole officiating.

Private burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. She was born February 11, 1936 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Frank and Ida (Levine) Gushrowski .

On August 25, 1956 in Michigan City, IN she married Alfred “Fred” Bazia who preceded her on December 10, 2015. Surviving are two daughters, Susan (David) Radke and Kristina Bazia, both of Michigan City, Indiana; four grandchildren, Gretchen Durflinger-Krumrie, Jordan Bazia, Lonnie Savado, and Loniyah Savado; and four great-grandchildren, Collin Scherrbaum, Emily Durflinger, Anna Krumrie and Ella Krumrie; and her brother, Alfred (Norma) Gushrowski of Michigan City, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Rusboldt; two sons, Paul and Steven Bazia; five sisters, Bernice Kaminski, Mildred Gushrowski, Dolores Konarski, Arlene Madginski and Lorraine Muzyka; and four brothers, Clement, Donald, Junior and Robert Gushrowski.

Harriet had worked as a bookkeeper at LeSac Corporation. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Harriet enjoyed playing bingo, going to Blue Chip Casino and being with her grandchildren.
