Harold “Harry” L. Kruse, 81, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Samaritan Pacific Communities’ Hospital, Newport Oregon. Harold LaVerne, Kruse, son of Albert Arthur Kruse and Elsie Margaret (Giese) Kruse, was born August 4, 1937 in Ogden, Iowa. Harry was baptized into the Lutheran faith and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Ogden High School in 1955. On September 21, 1957 Harry was united in marriage with LaVone Elaine Greene in Ogden, Iowa. Once he received his associate’s degree he surprised everyone and moved to California with LaVone to pursue his career as a draftsman.

He also served as an Elder and president of the congregation of Trinity Lutheran Church Simi Valley, California. Harry’s passion was coaching his four sons in little league baseball. He also enjoyed having pick up games of basketball in the driveway with his boys.

He is survived by his brother Richard Kruse, wife LaVone E. Kruse (Greene), sons and daughters-in-law Marty and Vicki, Randy and Lisa, Toby and Denise, Robert and Elizabeth, eight grandchildren: Krysten, Sheri, Michelle, Curtis, Cassandra, Erika, Brent, Sean, and four great grandchildren. Per Harold’s request, a formal memorial ceremony will not be held, but the family will gather at a predetermined date for a private celebration of Dad’s life.
