Harry Maxwell Dukes, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at his home under the care of hospice. He was 71. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends at their home on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2 PM until 5 PM. Mr. Dukes was born in Henry County, Alabama to the late Charles and Thelma Penuel Dukes. He was a 1966 graduate of Slocomb High School and later graduated from Troy State University.

Mr. Dukes began a career with the State of Alabama and retired after 34 years of service as a Revenue Examiner. He had a love for family and spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was fishing, bowling or just being together. Mr. Dukes was fond of swimming and taught his daughters and grandchildren how to swim.

Mr. Dukes is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Inez Henderson and a brother, Charles Don Dukes. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cynthia Dukes; three daughters, Gracie Dukes Ford (Bo), Abbegail Dukes Partin (Shane), Carey Dukes Peacock (Caleb); eight grandchildren, Peyton, Bartley, Andrew, Mara, Lizzy, Emma Kate, Beorn “Bear” and Rachel Anne; three sisters, Grace Beckett, Joyce Rawlinson and Linda Johnson.
