Obituary for Harry ‘Terry’ Dawson Jr. Harry Samuel Dawson, Jr., age 71, known as ‘Terry’, of Governor Thompson Terrace in Weaverville, died on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine. Born on November 14, 1946 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Harry S. Dawson, Sr. and Gladys A. Dawson. His favorite subject in school was space even at an early age and he began blowing up rockets in his backyard.

Most of his jobs in Washington, DC, California, Houston, and back to Virginia were related to aerospace. He worked in the Washington, DC area for twenty-three years as an aerospace engineering consultant. He thoroughly enjoyed his work until his retirement in December, 2009.

After retiring, he was on the Planning and Zoning Committee of Weaverville, NC where he resided. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of forty-eight years; Barbara Ann Bogle Dawson of Weaverville; his mother; Gladys Dawson of Frederick, MD; his twin sons; Brett Dawson of Weaverville and Sean Dawson and wife, Julie of Falls Church, VA; and his granddaughter; Ally Dawson his brothers; Bobby Dawson and wife, Carol of Oceanside, CA and John Dawson and wife, Kelli of Grasonville, MD; and his sister; Sharon Mitrothanasis and husband, Christos of Boyd, MD. In accordance with Terry’s wishes, memorialization will be by cremation.
