Harry Charles Evans, 73, of Faith, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019. He was born December 3, 1945, in Rowan County to the late William and Ethel Pence Evans. Harry was a 1964 graduate of Boyden High School and a 1968 graduate of King’s College.

He was a six year Veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. Harry retired from the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center as a Personal Property Manager. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he was past Sunday School superintendent, church council member, member of the property committee, and the Lutheran Men.

Harry was a member of the Faith American Legion Post 327, VFW Post 3006, and the Rowan Country Veterans Honor Guard. He was also a past member of the Faith Jaycees and the American Legion Baseball Committee. Harry loved attending sporting events, spending time with his family, and giving back to his community through the American Legion.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brothers, William Bryant Evans and Henry Lewis Evans and sister, Pat Smith. Harry is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith Evans, whom he married August 29, 1970; son, Tony Evans and wife, Mandy, of Faith; daughters, Dawn Mowbray and husband, Adam, of Faith and Laura Evans of Faith; granddaughter, Kaylyn, step-granddaughter, Autumn; and brother, John Evans of Salisbury, The family will greet friends and relatives from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 13, in the Family Life Center at Faith Lutheran Church, Faith. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, in Faith Lutheran Church, Faith, conducted by Rev.

Randy Drafts and Rev. Mike Shoaf. Burial with Military Graveside Rites by the North Carolina National Guard and Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard will take place in the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC 28144, at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 15, with Pastor Adam Mowbray officiating.
