Obituary for Mr. Hassel Choate Hassel Choate, the son of the late Ivan and Roxie (Scroggins) Choate, was born December 19, 1943 in Fentress County Tennessee. He died September 24, 2018 at the age of 74. His family moved to South Lyon Michigan when he was 2.

He always enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. Hassel retired from Michigan Seamless Tube where he had also served as the vice-president of the steelworkers there. He was a lifetime member of the Masons.

After his retirement he enjoyed traveling and eventually settled in Muskegon Michigan. Hassel is survived by 3 daughters: Lin Choate, Holly Choate and Roxanne (Rick) Cook; 2 grandsons: Nicholas Troutt and Donovan Lerma; 1 brother: Harold Choate and 3 sisters: Geraldine Duncan, Susan Thacker and Lucille Kirk. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Choate; 3 brothers: Ray Scoggins, Woodrow Choate and Bill Crabtree and 2 sisters: Georgia Saylor and Nellie Hartman.

A family service will be held at a later date in Tennessee.
