Obituary for Hattie Gautreaux “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day”. John 6:40 Hattie Boudreaux Gautreaux, who was affectionately known as, “Hattie Mae,” departed this life on November 1, 2018 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center surrounded by her daughter Tina and her girls. Hattie was 80 years old and a resident of Thibodaux, LA.
She was born in Labadieville, LA on May 17, 1938 to Solange Talbot Boudreaux and Claude Boudreaux. She married Norman Gautreaux in October of 1961, celebrating 50 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2012. Hattie was a housewife and prided herself on having a clean house.
She raised two daughters. The only thing that she cherished more than her children were her four grandchildren. Hattie always believed her family was complete until the “apple of her eye,” her great-granddaughter was born.
Hattie could always be counted on to help those family and friends who needed help during times of need and sickness. She enjoyed boiled seafood, swinging outside on a beautiful afternoon or just rocking in her chair outside. The highlight of her last three years was being known as YaYa Hattie by Olivia.
Those who truly knew her knew she was an extremely private person, even more so once diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease over 15 years ago. Hattie will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind; daughters Tina Gautreaux Boyd (Alan) and Nickie Gautreaux Adams (Jason) both of Thibodaux, LA; grandchildren Renee Boyd Ferreira (Dennis), Kassi Boyd (Justin Hebert), Kameron Adams, and Karson Adams; great-granddaughter Olivia Rose Ferreira. Her siblings Margie B. Talbot, Larry Boudreaux (Emily), Sylvia B. Ordoyne (Paul), Nancy Boudreaux, Myrna B. Becnel (Gene), and Debra B. Hernandez (John); sister-in-law Carolyn C. Boudreaux; her God-children Karen B. Duet, Patti O. Champagne and Paula O. Robichaux; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brother Audrey Boudreaux, brother-in-law Charles Talbot and great-grandchild David Rose Ferreira. The Boyd & Ferreira families will always be grateful to the exceptional staff at Audubon Guest & Rehab for all their guidance and care given to Hattie. Hattie ultimately succumbed to complications due to her Parkinson’s Disease.
Words cannot express our gratitude for the care given from Dr. Gregory Chaisson and Dr. Chester Boudreaux of Regional Internal Medicine Associates. Her final days were spent in the care of these doctors and the wonderful nurses in the ICU and Med/Surg Floor at TRMC. Family & friends can come say their final goodbyes on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 11am until funeral time at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville, LA.
A Catholic mass officiated by Father Joe Vu will take place at 1pm. Burial to follow at the St. Philomena Mausoleum. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Hattie Gautreaux please visit our Sympathy Store.
