Helen’s Obituary The former Helen Lewandowski, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away at Brothers of Mercy Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Clarence, New York on her birthday, at the age of 93. A “Lady” with a sweet tooth for Candy and Sweets always enjoyed helping out in the Kitchen at her former Precious Blood Church before it closed and participated in all the parish activities, especially those held by the School’s “PTA” Parent Teachers Association and was once honored by the parish community as a Mother of the Year. At home and to her friends, Helen was known for her tasty Pierogies and Kluski that she shared with everyone, as well as her love of Polka Dancing at events throughout the community.

Also being the only girl and youngest of 7 in her family, she wore the title of “Princess” very well. Her first love and beloved husband Alexander predeceased her in 1990. They were married in 1952 and would have celebrated 67 years of marriage this year.

Helen was the devoted mother of Elaine (Tim) Hammer, Beverly (Ron) Michalski, Karen (Leo) Lovely, Patricia (Ron) Ferro, Bernadette Schenck, and the late James M. Golombek. She was the loving grandmother of Peter (Sarah) Hammer, Andy Hammer, Meta (Stephen) Wallace, Gregory (Karen) Hammer, Heather (David) Scibetta, Russell (Shannon) Giordano, Guy (Kelsey) Giordano, Taylor Lovely, Brooke Lovely, Sierra Lovely, Jillian (Dan Watson) Ferro, Jacob Ferro, Tyler Schenck, Travis Schenck and great-grandmother of Madeline Scibetta, Owen Scibetta, Michael Scibetta, Joey Giordano, Emma Giordano, Charlotte Giordano, Abby Hammer, Isaac Hammer, William Hammer, Anna Hammer, Laura Rose Wallace, Joey Wallace, Francis Wallace, Sally Wallace, Hazel Hammer, and Violet Hammer. The devoted daughter of the late Anna and late Anthony Lewandowski and dearest sister of the late Joseph (late Florence and late Bernice) Lewandowski, late Chester (late Ima) Lewandowski, late Stanley (late Deb) Lewandowski, late Edwin (late Kay) Lewandowski, late Edward (late Pauline) Lewandowski and the late Matthew (late Eleanor) Lewandowski and also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem. ) Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, located at 2158 Clinton St, in Cheektowaga, New York 14206 on Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, in West Seneca, New York.
