Obituary for Helen (Kus) Nowak Helen (Kus) Nowak, 101, entered into Eternal Rest November 25, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 17, 1917 in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Cichosz) Kus. Helen was a New Britain resident most of her life.

She was a professional seamstress for several area garment manufacturers before retiring in 1982. Helen was a member of St. Mary Church in New Britain. She enjoyed traveling, bowling and volunteering at the New Britain Senior Center.

Helen is survived by her daughter Judith Boyle and her “favorite” son-in-law Richard. Four grandchildren, Susan, Rick, Kevin, and Sheila. Two great grandchildren, Ssgt.

Patrick M. Boyle USAF and Kimberly Boyle of Florida. Several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband John, she was predeceased by her infant twin daughter, Janis Nowak.

Two brothers, Edward Kus and Theodore Kush. Two sisters, Stasia Generous and Amelia Strajkowski. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to all of the nurses and staff on Station 3 at Autumn Lake Healthcare of New Britain for their many years of care, especially, Sophie, Carmen, Johanna, Sheila and Tulia, all of whom were Helen’s devoted caregivers, as well as very special friends.

Calling hours are Thursday morning 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM at St. Mary Church 544 Main Street, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CCARC 950 Slater Rd.
