Dateline: Granite City Helen Maxine Cherry, 81, of Dow, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Fountain View Manor in Granite City. Helen was born on March 13, 1937, in Alton, IL, the daughter of John and Charlotte (Ward) Roberts. She married Gary “Don” Cherry in Alton on August 18, 1984.

He preceded her in death in July of 2017. She was a past member of Bethalto Church of God. Helen enjoyed baking and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her three children, Charles Atchison of Brighton, Gloria Atchison of Dow and Daniel (Ann Smith) Atchison of Jerseyville; two sisters, Fern Grills and Alice Reinhardt; two brothers, John Roberts and Wesley Roberts; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Roberts and Stanley Roberts; and a sister, Betty Owens. Services will be private.
