Kershawn attended Alton School District. Kershawn worked for Community Counseling Center, now known as Centerstone, serving her community for over 20+ years, helping individuals with mental illnesses.

She had a passion for helping people. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry L. Ewing and Barbra Ann Ewing; a sister, LaWanda E. Ewing; two uncles, Thomas Taylor and Michael Taylor; and a nephew, Jamario D. Lacey. Kershawn, 51, departed this life in Chicago, Illinois on February 13, 2019.

She leaves behind to cherish: her husband – Kristopher Hervey; her two daughters – Shawtika Gardner and Kristal Hervey; two sisters – Toni (Lamont) Jones and Kimberly (Johnnie) Ewing of Springfield, Illinois; four brothers – Henry Vincent Ewing of Springfield, Illinois, Jeffery and Joseph Ewing of Alton, Illinois and Trumel (Raquel) Ewing of Topeka, Kansas; her aunt – Mayloise; special cousin – Patricia Warren; and a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She Will be dearly missed.
