Obituary for Helen M. Stidham Helen Matilda (Garrison-Shafer) Stidham, age 87 of Ft. Pierce, FL. , and formerly of Cumberland County, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Florida.
Born in Bridgeton to the late Albert and Hattie Garrison, she grew up in the Cumberland County area, before moving to Florida in 1992. Helen was a homemaker, and for 14 years she worked as a Box-maker / Bottle packer for Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville and retired. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Millville.
While in Florida, she was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in West Palm Beach, FL. Helen was an active volunteer at Columbia Hospital in W. Palm Beach, FL. In 1995 she received an award for volunteering the most hours in one year.
Helen was a loving and devoted mother to her children, and will be sadly missed by all her knew her. Helen is survived by her children, Frank Shafer Jr. of W. Palm Beach, FL, Daniel Robert Shafer of Toms River, Jeanette Shafer of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Stella Ruth Robertson of Port St. Lucie, FL; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Stidham; and her siblings, Elwood Garrison, Winfield Dunkle, Lillian Seabrook, Claire Garrison, and Randall “Pepsi-Pete” Garrison. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Laurel Lawn Cemetery, Bridgeton. The family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, 3 Eves Drive, Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053 or to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Ft. Pierce, FL 34981.
