Obituary of Helen Snyder Helen Louise Cook Snyder, 87, of Morgantown, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Helen was born March 16, 1931 in Reedsville, WV to the late Frances Pyles Cook and John Ralph Cook. Helen was a 1949 graduate of Masontown High School and later graduated from Morgantown Business College.
She was a bookkeeper for many years for several hardware and construction companies in the area. Helen was a faithful member of Suncrest United Methodist Church where she was very active in the United Methodist Women. She served as treasurer for over twenty years, helped in the kitchen and dining room and was a 50+ year member of the UMW.
She also served as a teacher at the Drummond Chapel kindergarten program before going to teach at the Calvary Baptist Church pre-school program. While there, she touched the lives of over 200 children before retiring in 1993. Upon her retirement from teaching, she kept herself busy with caring for her two grandchildren, playing in her weekly bridge club, and camping and traveling with Glenn.
You could always find her working word find puzzles or watching her soap operas until her health would no longer permit. In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her brothers Alfred Cook and Donald Cook, and her sister Leah Jane Miller. She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Glenn Snyder, daughter Diane Casdorph and husband Bradley, two grandchildren David (Emily) Casdorph of Harrisonburg, VA, and Amy (Andrew) Pridemore of Morgantown.
She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Owen and Cora Casdorph and Reid Pridemore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Suncrest United Methodist Women: 479 Van Voorhis Rd, Morgantown, WV 26505 or the Alzheimer’s Association: 1299 Pineview Dr. #3 Morgantown, WV 26505. The family wishes to thank the staff of Morgantown Health & Rehab for all the care they have given to Helen over the years and for the compassion and care they have shown toward Glenn and the rest of her family as well as Amedisys Hospice for their care and compassion in her final days.
Friends and family will be received at McCulla Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25th. Friends will also be received at Suncrest United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 26th from 10 until the 11 am funeral service with Pastor Tim Halloran officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
