Henry G. Bertels, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Heritage Health-Carlinville. Henry was born on June 16, 1934 in Belleville, the son of Henry and Lilly Bertels. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

He retired from Martin Machinery and was an avid fisherman and a diehard Cardinal fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; sister, Evelyn; and grandson, Matthew. He is survived by his wife/companion, Sharon Sue; daughter, Debra (Mike) Jones; stepsons, Jeffrey (Dawn) and Michael (Chawna) Miller; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
