Reidsville GA Henry Remer “H.R.” Hendrix, age 86, passed away unexpectedly at Optim Medical Center – Tattnall. Described by his family as one that could never “sit still”. H.R. worked up until the last year of his life.

He worked as a farmer for many years for Strickland Farms. The mouths fed by his hands over his years of farming are too numerous to count. Additionally, he was a true outdoorsman, hunting and fishing was always a favored pastime.

One of the few times you would catch him inside was on football Saturdays when he would cheer on “his” team, the Georgia Bulldogs. H.R. was preceded in death by his wife of over 32 years, Annie Mae Mooney; a grandson, Daniel Oliver, and two brothers, James and Johnny Hendrix. Left to carry the memories of a life well lived are his 7 sons, Henry Hendrix of Savannah, James Hendrix of Savannah, Jimmy Giles of Tuskegee AL, Thomas Giles of Tallassee AL, Marty Hendrix of Claxton, Billy (Tara) Hendrix of Claxton, and Travis (Jessica) Hendrix of Claxton; 3 daughters, Patricia (Jim) Newman of Savannah, Virginia Giles of Claxton, and Debra (Wayne) Crapse of Reidsville; 2 sisters, Grace Massey of Claxton and Juanita (Jan) Hackle of Claxton; a grandson he raised as a son, Brian (Brandy) Giles of Statesboro; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends made along life’s journey.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Reidsville City Cemetery with interment to follow. Low Country Cremation & Burial is serving the Hendrix family.
