Henry Marion Hammontree, age 82 of Gainesville, Ga. passed away in his sleep 12:55 a.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2018. He was born on February 9, 1936 in LaFayette, Ga to Hayes Hammontree and Mary Lou Hammontree.

Henry had five siblings, Don, Rex, Reva, Billy Joe, and Mary Ellen. Henry grew up in a farming family. Henry’s chosen occupation was a crane operator for 60 years with International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 926.

Henry’s favorite pastime was working in the yard. He loved traveling and seeing the country he loved so much. Above all Henry believed in working hard for his family and being a good provider.

He believed a man should be faithful to his spouse. Henry was married to Freddie Sue Hammontree for 28 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Don Hammontree and Billy Joe Hammontree; sisters, Reva Rex and Mary Ellen Hammontree.

Survivors include sons, Rusty Hammontree and William Hammontree; two step-children, Debbie Alexander and James Timothy Davis; four grandchildren, Bo, Maria, Shannon, and Kelsey; four great-grandchildren; nieces, Lou Rea Underwood and Donna Jeanne Henry; brother, Rex and Mary Nell Hammontree and sister-in-law Jeanne Hammontree.
